Hunger Does Take a Break!
Join Oregon Eye Specialists this month in the campaign to fight hunger in Oregon by donating 3 cans of non-perishable food in one of our clinics. We will give you a free eye glass cleaning kit as a thank you for participating. Or LIKE our Facebook page and OES will donate $5.00 to Oregon Food Bank for each LIKE we receive (up to $2,000.00).
In its “Hunger Does Not Take a Break” drive, Oregon Eye Specialists’ physicians and staff are raising awareness of the dramatic increase in food bank requests during the summer months. The need for food intensifies in June as public school students who get subsidized meals during the school year no longer receive them. Low-income families in particular struggle during summer and school breaks to feed their kids without these programs. Currently, 1 in 5 children in Oregon and SW Washington are food insecure and receive food from the Oregon Food Bank Network. That’s roughly 198,000 kids in our community who face hunger.
For the month of June, Oregon Eye Specialists and The Sight Shop have positioned Oregon Food Bank donation barrels and jars (for cash donations) in the following six clinics to collect food in our effort to reach the goal of providing 20,000 meals to Oregon residents in need:
- Providence St. Vincent Clinic – 9135 SW Barnes Road, Suite 961, Portland, OR 97225
- Providence Portland Clinic – 5050 NE Hoyt Street, Suite 445, Portland, OR 97213
- Tualatin Meridian Park Clinic – 19250 SW 65th Avenue, Suite 215, Tualatin, OR 97062
- Lake Oswego Clinic – 9 Monroe Parkway, Suite 160, Lake Oswego, OR 97035
- Aloha Clinic – 18345 SW Alexander Street, Suite A, Aloha, OR 97006
- Newberg Clinic – 2318 Portland Road, Suite 300, Newberg, OR 97132
At Oregon Eye Specialists, we align our purpose with patient care. Dr. Christen Richard, Ophthalmologist at the Providence Portland Clinic shares, “Our mission to deliver clarity is at the heart of all that we do. We invite you to join us in making an impact in our community. Your food donation will help neighbors who are struggling to put enough food on the table at this critical time of need.”
As part of its on-going commitment to support the Oregon Food Bank, on June 22, 2019, 30 staff members, family and friends of the Oregon Eye Specialists will help sort, repack and label food donations that will be distributed through the food bank network to hungry families.
