Dr. Hillary Stiefel, one of the great providers at our Newberg location discusses the diseases of the eye that concern people as they age. She will join the residents of the Friendsview Retirement Community on March 5, 2018 at 10 am. Prior to the presentation, an Oregon Eye Specialist optician will be offering adjustments to glasses to members of the community at no charge.
Dr. Stiefel joined Oregon Eye Specialists in the summer of 2017. Raised in Coeur d’Alene, ID, and receiving her undergraduate degree from Whitman College, she received her M.D. from the University of Washington, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Stiefel completed her ophthalmology residency at Casey Eye Institute in Portland. She practices comprehensive ophthalmology by performing cataract surgery and caring for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, and dry eye.
Dr. Stiefel volunteers on the Casey Eye Institute Outreach Van, and has participated in medical volunteer work in Mexico, Ecuador, and Guatemala, including service trips to perform cataract surgery for underserved patients. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, kayaking, and hiking in the beautiful outdoor playground of the Pacific Northwest with her husband.
In addition to practicing for Oregon Eye Specialists, Dr. Stiefel remains involved in academic ophthalmology at OHSU, where she is completing an ocular pathology fellowship and teaches residents on the inpatient consult service.
