“We did about 50 cataract surgeries during the week. It was an unreal experience helping the native indigenous people. Many walking days to get to the clinic. All the surgeries were done the old fashioned way with large incisions and expression of the lens. The thing I will always remember was the grandeur of the people and the beauty of their culture. They did with what they had and expressed great kindness and appreciation for our work.” – Dr. Grant R. Lindquist
Since 1979, Medical Teams International has provided life-saving medical care for people in crisis, including survivors of the Rwandan genocide, the South Asia tsunami in 2004, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The organization is focused on refugee crisis situations, natural disasters, health care for mothers and children, and access to dental work. Dr. Lindquist has had the privilege of traveling with Medical Teams International to do cataract surgery for local residents in Mexico.
During this season of giving we honor the volunteer efforts of Dr. Lindquist who has served locally and throughout the world to cure blindness. Thank you Dr. Lindquist!
