Dr. Balish has particular expertise in cataract surgery utilizing focusing intraocular lens implants. He is Portland’s most experienced Crystalens provider and the first and only surgeon in Portland to use the micro-incisional cataract surgery technique. Dr. Balish also has 14 years of experience in laser refractive surgery, utilizing Intralase femtosecond laser technology for LASIK. His practice includes everything from general eye examinations to treating patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts.
Dr. Balish graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed his ophthalmology residency at Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). He is board certified in ophthalmology. Dr. Balish is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and a clinical instructor at OHSU. He joined Oregon Eye Specialists in 1998.
