Devin M. Gattey, M.D.
Dr. Gattey practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a special interest in complex cataract surgery and advanced lens implants. Most recently, Dr. Gattey completed the first cataract surgery in the region using the new DropLess technique, which leverages intraoperative antibiotics to improve patient safety and reduce post-operation drop regiments.
Dr. Gattey joined Oregon Eye Specialists in 2013 after practicing for 11 years with Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). At OHSU, he served as director of comprehensive ophthalmology and lead cataract surgeon. He also founded and led their International Ophthalmology Program.
Dr. Gattey received his M.D. from the University of California at Davis and completed his ophthalmology residency at OHSU. He is board certified in ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gattey has trained dozens of residents and performed thousands of surgeries, including many conducted during outreach missions in Vietnam, India, Samoa, Peru, and elsewhere. He is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and a reviewer for medical journals.
A former Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, Dr. Gattey speaks fluent Spanish. After years of playing soccer, he now serves as a United States Soccer Federation certified referee. He and his wife have raised their two sons with values of compassion, volunteerism and dedication to meeting life’s challenges.
Dr. Gattey says, “My greatest joy as a physician is teaching my patients about their conditions while working to end their discomfort. I try to give each patient the compassion, meticulous attention to detail and efficiency I would want for myself and my family.”
