Dr. Joe Denman has been practicing ophthalmology for more than 25 years and is a founding partner of Oregon Eye Specialists. He is the current President of the Westside Surgery Center where he performs cataract surgery as well as oculoplastic surgery to correct drooping eyelids. He was one of the first certified surgeons in Oregon to implant Toric, Restor and Crystalens intraocular lenses in cataract patients helping them see clearly without the use of glasses following surgery.
Believing that nutrition and the judicious use of certain supplements play an important role in the comprehensive approach to healthy vision, he uses diet, exercise and nutritional recommendations to help patients protect their sight.
Dr. Denman’s areas of expertise include glaucoma and diseases of the anterior segment of the eye. Having the good fortune to be married to a Dermatologist practicing across the hall, he can coordinate care of eyelid dermatitis from an ophthalmologic and, if necessary, dermatologic perspective.
Dr. Denman volunteers with Medical Teams International performing cataract surgeries on needy patients in Central America (generally Honduras and El Salvador). He has particularly enjoyed taking part in these missions with his wife, who provides skin care to patients in small villages, and their two teenage daughters who help with translation and patient care in the clinics.
