Oregon Eye Specialists Reaches Out to the Community

In their spare time, our physicians are proud to reach out to the communities in which we live and serve, as well as abroad. Here are a few of their most recent efforts...

Dr. Martin Balish teamed up with the Beaverton Lions Club and the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation on May 13th for the third year in a row to provide cataract surgeries for a select few in need. “Mission Cataract Day” offers free cataract surgeries to six pre-screened, pre-qualified low-income individuals from this area once a year. “My goal is to be a regular participant in the Lions’ program bringing the latest technological advancements in eye surgery to those who are most in need right here at home,” says Dr. Balish. Drs. Tom Crawford, Jennifer Lyons, Christen Richard and Vasiliki Stoumbos have teamed up with Project Access NOW, a nonprofit organization bringing healthcare to low-income people and the uninsured in our own backyard. Dr. Lyons recognizes the need to assist those struggling with the growing constraints of our healthcare system and was eager to join forces with Project Access.
